The academic session starts in January.

When does the class start?

The class starts in winter from 09:00 a.m. to 02:30 p.m and in summer from 08:30 a.m to 02:00 pm.

What is the duration of each class?

The duration of each class is 50 minutes.

Is transport provided?
Yes, the School offers school transport service at an additional monthly charge to students.

Do the children have to be Ismaili to attend the school?
No. In fact the School is non-denominational and accepts children from all faiths.

Do you have day care facilities?
No. There are no plans to provide these facilities

Do you have Hostel facilities for students?
Yes. The School has separate Hostel for boys and girls.

What are the procedure for admission?

A form must be collected from NWIS office. Once the application form is submitted it will be assessed in a pre-selection process. If selected, then the student and parents will be called for the admission test and/or interview (depending on the class in which you want to admit your child). After the test and/or interview the selected candidates are offered for admission.

The written exams of Admission Test are taken on which subjects?

The exams are taken on three core subjects – English, Mathematics and Bengali. However General Knowledge is also assessed for some of the class. During collecting the Admission form a syllabus for the Admission Test is provided.

Is there any special care in your School?

The school does offer special classes for students whose efficiency level in any subject is lower than the requisite standard and free “O” and “A” level support before their exam.

 Does NWIS teach the O and A Levels?

NWIS offers the “O” and “A” Levels curriculum under the Pearson Edexcel examinations board. These qualifications are recognized all over the world.

How does the school communicate with parents?

We stay in touch with parents via email, hard copy notices and SMS for urgent messages or reminders. We have set up a website for parents to download important notices and key documents. We welcome parents to meet with teachers and management by making appointments. We are open to parents’ ideas, suggestions and problems/concerns, which are shared through email or Parents Suggestion Box.

How are teaching standards maintained?

NWIS has a Teaching Development Unit made up of Academic Supervisors who observe teachers, conduct workshops and arrange training for the teachers. NWIS Teaching Development Unit oversees the development of the academic program. The unit ensures that a high standard of education is delivered uniformly at all levels of the school and ensures best practices in teaching. It monitors the delivery of the academic program and comes up with effective services and strategies for imparting our curriculum and maintaining consistency. The unit also oversees the planning of the annual syllabus of the school.

How does the school provide opportunities for whole child development?

At NWIS, we take whole child development seriously and provide opportunities for students to develop their skills through a number of avenues. We provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities through after school programs such as Science Club, Debate Club, Language Club, Social Welfare Club, Music Club, Art Club, Sports Club and Drama Club.
